SOIL TESTING
It is advised that you get your soil tested every couple of years in order to determine its Ph and what amount/if any lime is needed to maintain a proper Ph level of approximately 6.5. Additionally, recommendations are given by the testing service at U-Mass Soil and Plant Nutrient Testing Lab for future fertilizing services. Soil tests can be done at the earliest possible time in the season and take approximately two weeks for analysis.
Testing and Delivery: $27.50

LIME SPREADING
Proper soil Ph is essential to a healthy green lawn. Without it your lawn cannot unlock any natural or supplemental nutrients administered to the lawn. Maintain proper soil Ph through spreading of correct amount of lime. Pelletized lime is preferred as it is far easier to accurately apply. Lime Spreading will not be done without a soil test being administered.
Soil testing: See above.
Lime spreading: $12 per 40lb bag + $35 Application fee

FERTILIZING SERVICES
Fertilizing services are second only to regular grass cutting to a healthy and green lawn throughout the season.  As our wants and budgets dictate, a minimum of three applications of fertilizer can be helpful to our lawn and as many as five can be scheduled at key dates throughout the year.

CORE-AERATING
Soil compaction has an immense impact on grass roots ability to reach down into the soil to gather water and nutrients. By removing hundreds of 2-3" plugs from the soil, the compaction is relieved. The removed plugs will disintegrate over time and/or mowing providing a healthy fresh topsoil supplement to the lawn. Core-aerating is a service that should be done at a minimum every couple of years and more frequently for high-traffic lawns in early spring or early autumn.
Core-aerating: $15 per 1000sq ft
Ask about recommended post-aeration over-seeding

De-thatching
Soil needs nutrients and water to promote turf growth. Thatch is a loose layer of dead and living shoots, stems, and roots that develops between the zone of green vegetation and the soil surface. If you look at your lawn closely and cannot see soil between the blades of grass, you might have a thatch issue. Note: Be sure to discuss how aggressively you want to de-thatch your lawn with your lawn-care provider. De-thatching can be done aggressively or more moderately, as perpendicular passes of dozens of spring-loaded rakes CAN cause disturbance of your existing turf if done so aggressively.
De-thatching: $75 per 10000sq ft

Over-seeding/Spot-seeding
Applying a yearly over-seeding in early spring or early autumn can help thicken an existing lawn. Over-seeding is done in much the same process as fertilizing. Spot-seeding is done on areas of bare patches, typically by hand and with a greater emphasis on hand-watering and supplemental fertilizer/loam to the area.
Over-seeding:
5k² ft - $75
10k² ft - $110
20k² ft - $200
Spot-seeding:
Variable according to area covered.

HEDGE TRIMMING
Some hedges and shrubs require more maintenance than others, but one thing can be said for all. Neat appearance not only looks nicer, but is healthier for all of your hedges and shrubs. Although most hedges and shrubs require two or three trimmings per season, we will identify your variety and plan a service schedule that meets your needs.
$50 per hour - includes removal and disposal of trimmings

FALL AND SPRING CLEAN-UP SERVICES
Here in New England it is a fall ritual to get the leaves up off of the lawn before the first snow. It can be a time consuming and labor intensive effort. Our fall clean-up services include two (or more) visits to properties beginning in late October and continuing through November. That way, your lawn maintains its neat appearance all autumn long. Additionally, a visit to your property in the Spring can be scheduled to remove any leaves left over from the winter.
Note: Clean-ups are difficult to quote due to there being so many variables from one job to the next i.e. size of yard, amount of trees, distance from leaves to access point of yard, do leaves need to be removed or dumped on site etc., but typically we will offer an estimate within a guaranteed cost "range" prior to beginning our work.
$50 per man hour - with a $75 minimum

MISC. SERVICES
Sometimes clients have asked for help with projects that are outside of our service list. Do not hesitate to ask - if possible and professional results can be accomplished we'd be glad to help!
